JENNY FALCKENBERG
As the daughter of the renowned Hamburg collector Harald Falckenberg, Jenny Falckenberg has always had a close, personal relationship with the art world as well as with established and emerging artists. She started working as an agent for artists, combining her expertise with good personal contacts in the art scene. She then founded her agency Unique Art Concepts, representing contemporary artists and organizing exhibitions, festivals, shows and other events throughout Germany. It aims to combine the world of art with other disciplines such as fashion, film and lifestyle.
If there was one piece of art you could feature in, which would it be and why?
I love the work of Ena Swansea entitled 'Snow on 16th Street'. You feel like you could walk in there!
Who inspires you and why? An artist, a family member, someone current or historical?
The longer I work in my job, travel, meet new crazy people - the more I am open for anything. One of my artists, Mia Florentine Weiss, is also very inspiring - developing ideas together is one of the greatest things I ever did!
What are your cultural aspirations? What do you still want to see, do and achieve?
I wish to discover hidden places, discover artists who are young and open-minded. Standing still is not an option.
What are your favourite cultural cities in the world and why?
Bad Gasstein, a little village in Austria, is a little treasure. They are having a summer festival called 'Sommer frische Kunstresidenze' featuring young artists from all over the world and giving them residencies. I also love finding new galleries in New York, Berlin, and Barcelona. I like the movement, creativity and freedom you feel in these cities.
What are you up to at the moment and where can we find it?
At the moment I am working on 'The Pegasus Project' by Mia Florentine Weiss. We are having her first solo show in the Seckenberg Museum in Frankfurt, after which she will be exhibiting at the Venice Triennale. Here is an article about it.
