If there was one piece of art you could feature in, which one would it be and why?

I wouldn’t mind being part of Bacchus’ retinue or perhaps even Bacchus himself in Titian’s incredible painting Bacchus and Ariadne in the National Gallery. I have loved this painting ever since I was a child and first became interested in art. I often pop into the National Gallery to pay my respects!

How will museums impact future cities?

Museums are the collective memory of any civilised society and in the future that depository of creative and intellectual thinking will be ever more important to our sense of self. Our understanding of the past is essential to our understanding of the future. It shows us where we have been and points us to where we are going.

What are your favourite emerging cultural cities?

I particularly like Berlin as a city right now. Not only does it have the largest concentration of artists anywhere in the world but it also has the right work / life balance which gives ample space for you to explore your creative potential. If I were a young artist right now I would head straight for Berlin.

Who do you think are the cultural innovators of tomorrow?

The younger generation will always be the cultural innovators of tomorrow. It is just the way of the world!

What are you up to at the moment?

I tend to steer away from social media so I don’t have much of a footprint on the Internet, which is how I like it. That said I do love Instagram so you can always see what I am up to by following my Instagram account at Mark Sanders Art Consultancy.
